Anı Akpınar received her PhD in plant genomics in 2015 from Sabancı University, where she later continued her work, as a post-doctoral researcher, on comparative and functional analyses of plant genomes, with a particular focus on cereal species. She later moved her focus on organellar biology, specifically mitochondria and peroxisomes, where she could expand her experience into mammalian systems, as well. Her current research interests include organellar genomes and their interaction with the nuclear machinery in plant cells, and organellar and nuclear genome evolution on a broader scale. She is currently working in Montana BioAg Inc., Missoula, USA.
